What has happened to Corluka and how has Hutton regained his place?

This I am sure will cause some debate as both are good players but for me one is stand out different class, Corluka.  What he lacks in pace he makes up with clean intelligent play.  He is strong, strong in the air, reads play and shows players down the line, attacking he links up great with Lennon. Overlapping or threading weighted passes through for Lennon to run onto.  He gets the ball down and rarely gets caught on it and passes out of trouble more often than not.

Hutton lacks intelligence but does give enthusiasm.  But enthusiasm is not class.  He makes it so easy for players to cut back in and shoot its ridiculous.  He is rarely capable of showing an attacker down the line away from danger its predictable and frightening especially as I sit right in front of his patch of grass, to watch them cut in and shoot or put a dangerous in swinging cross in is infuriating.  He is clumsy and often gets so out of shape or position that he looks panicked and is forced into errors.  His challenges are rash (highlighted against Fulham, he could have forced him wide instead of a random hack challenge that was never going to work)  He is very similar to Ekotto in the mistakes front but there are games where Ekotto is switched on and strong and defends superbly combined with some great attacking, he is prone to errors often catastrophic but at least he throws in some solid games.  Hutton has had couple of stand out games this season but still I never feel assured with him at the back.

Hutton was out the side for a reason and out on loan for a reason how he is back and holding down the role is beyond me.  I saw him limp off and Corluka who hadn’t played for a while came on and was superb immediately linking play with Lennon and relaxed at the back.  They said Hutton was a doubt for the next game and I thought perfect chance for Corluka to get a foot in but somehow Hutton was deemed fit or risked and the charade continues.

Please put Corluka back.

With just minutes to go Sky Sports News have reported that Tottenham have made a late bid for Charlie Adam of Blackpool.

The Blackpool captain was looking likely to join Liverpool but a fee couldn’t be agreed and now Sky sources say that it is Tottenham who are trying to bring in the Blackpool playmaker. Like the last deadline in the summer a deal could be announced after 11pm so stay tuned for updates.

Liverpool supposedly bid around £6m but Blackpool wanted double that to land their star player and even Manchester United said they will match any bid Liverpool make for Adam as they see him as a possible replacement for Paul Scholes.

**Update**

Sky have confirmed we were too late in our bid for Adam and he will remain at Blackpool. It’s unclear as of yet whether the bid was rejected or whether we ran out of time.

With half an hour to go I am still sitting here with my fingers crossed that Harry and Levy have been quiet because they are up to something but when a deal is on the cards it’s very rare for reporters to not pick up on it.

We have now confirmed we have loaned Giovani dos Santos to Racing Santander. That now means we have loaned out Keane, Gio, O’Hara and Bentley this month and when you add that to our youngsters out on loan it’s criminal that we look unlikely to sign anyone tonight.

Our first time in the Champions League and our real chance to push on. I wouldn’t want the board to over do it and bankrupt the club until we were an established top four side. However it was clear for everyone to see in the summer we needed a striker but we didn’t get one, it became even clearer after the first half of the season that it was a big mistake not getting a striker at all costs. The same thing is now looking ever more likely to happen again and to top it all off we have now loaned half of our team out, our subs bench will not be half as strong as it was when you take in to consideration our injury problems.

Sure we are still a top team and we have come a long way, as for another top four finish, I would say forget it, the top teams all have good strikers, we don’t! and that will prove to be the difference.

Just hoping for a last minute surprise, we can only hope.

Just heard more reports that Giovani dos Santos is set to join Racing Santander on loan until the end of the season. Still waiting for some confirmation on this one but it does seem likely. Gio has always failed to impress Harry and Spurs wouldn’t stand in the way of any move for the Mexican.

Harry Redknapp has confirmed on Sky Sports News that Tottenham have bid for Phil Neville but it’s up to Everton if they accept the bid or not. Redknapp said Tottenham won’t worry about it if Everton don’t want to sell their captain. Harry also stated that there was no chance that Peter Crouch would be going anywhere tonight.

The news of the striker is nothing as of yet. Harry said that he is no expecting anything to happen although he and Levy are still working late at Spurs lodge and Redknapp said he will be staying there overnight for training in the morning. We have been linked with late bids for Forlan and Rossi so don’t be surprised if something happens in the final hours, although don’t be surprised if nothing happens either.

Sky Sports have reported that Harry and Levy are still working late at Spurs lodge.

It’s almost 8pm and Harry in an earlier interview said he expected a quiet day and would be going straight home after training but he and Levy are both still there. This looks as though something is going on and Spurs could be working on a deal to seal that all important striker.

Tottenham have today been linked with last minute moves for Diego Forlan and Giuseppe Rossi but as of yet there is still no official word. The deadline will pass at 11pm and just like in the summer the Spurs fans will all be hoping for some last minute excitement with an official announcement later on. We all remember how the Rafael Van der Vaart deal came to light about 10 mins before the last deadline so don’t be surprised if the same thing happens again.
