And we’re off and under way. At hearing the final whistle I’m sure there were many Spurs fans that breathed a huge sigh of relief. One that had been held deep within for the past two weeks whilst we waited for that direst of  international breaks to come to an end so that we might get the last two league games out of our system.

Looking at the line up before we kicked off you could see that some considerable strength had returned to the side. The midfield looked to have more bite with the presence of our new enforcer Scott Parker. Whilst Ledley King had brought a calmness to the team after missing the whole of pre-season due to undergoing a knee operation, (fingers crossed). And not forgetting that goal scoring touch of our very own Emmanuel Adebayor. Mate you keep this up and all is forgiven.

After what was an evenly matched first half which saw Kranjcar having an effort cleared off the line. And a fine save by our keeper Friedel. It wasn’t though until the second forty five minutes that we managed to pick the lock that was the Wolves defence. And it was a seemingly telepathic instance between Scott and Ade that got the scoring under way (have you two met before then)? With Kranjcar again playing his part, giving a neat ball inside to Parker who then touched it through to Emmanuel before he rounded the keeper and slotted the ball calmly home.

The second goal again came from an assist by fans favourite Niko Kranjcar who played a ball into the feet of Defoe who then arrowed the ball past a despairing Hennessey. If only Niko had played more games last season who knows how things might have turned out. Fortunatly though Harry seems to have put behind him whatever the problem was and given Niko another chance.

Chelsea? Never heard of them. That too seemed to be the mentality of Modders this afternoon. Giving another of those fine performances that showed why the interest had been so strong in him. He and Scott Parker played well off one another which was another positive from what was a great afternoons football. And with both strikers off the mark confidence should be at a higher level this evening. With fans and players alike.

So as I said we can breath again boys and girls. And never mention again that two points from eight game nightmare. After all this was a Wolves side that had only conceded one goal in four games (thanks London Wolf). They gave a very good account of themselves and can look forward in my opinion to a good season. Whilst we turn our attention  to the visit of Liverpool.

  1. What a great sight it was to see Ledley back on the pitch! Shock about Dawson though, he’ll definately be missed … I’ve gota say as a starting formation i like the 442 setup far more than VDV inspired 451. If Rafa could adapt his game to fit into Modric’s space i think we’d scrape a few more of these scrappy wins the like of which we would have lost or drawn last season. COYS!

  2. Adebayor, Adebayoooor.
We used to sing songs, but we don’t anymore.

  3. Dawson being out is a massive result, its no coincidence that we keep a clean sheet when he is out, must be the most overrated defender in the Premier League. King coming back is always a major boost, we look a different team with him playing..

I must’ve been watching a different Krancjar though, I couldn’t count on two hands the amount of times he lost the ball or played a terrible pass, ironically apart from the two for the goals, so I can put up with that more.

It was a pretty good performance, especially from our debutants. I think we might find we come unstuck playing 442 against teams with more quality but while Sandro is out, same team should start versus Liverpool with maybe Gio finally getting a game ahead of the sluggish Krancjar.

    • NOW NOW Dawson and friedegg suffered from the North West express Trains City Utd are flying both have form Liverpool also have form but only a few no about it because it was hidden. so don’t call Dawson on my watch because five mins in my company would tell you what is behind these results Stoke 1 Liverpool 0 UTD 5 Bolton 0 City 3 Wigan 0 all had the North West express defending and attacking . We won and iam HAPPY but not ecstatic because we will have to up our tempo and have Hudds passing and Lennon to beat this tempo next week trust me this eleven wont beat Liverpool. Stoke got a penalty gift and put a brick wall in front of there goal Harry needs to drop Modric for this one bring Huds back if he is fully fit Lennon for Kranjcar and Dawson back Kaboul for Walker if we want to beat Liverpool express. Well done lads iam proud of all our players Dawson Hudds and all the missing players because they all have the Cockerel on there shirts except Modric he is waiting for January. Coys where off the mark.

  4. We only improved after the break once Bale was put back on the left where he belongs. He draws players to him which leaves space on the other side. We were hopeless when he was on the right, don’t want to see him start there again.

  5. The score flattered us slightly. Wolves kept up with us until around 60 mins when our class started showing. After the goal, we got our mojo back and bossed them easily.

I also Krancs had a mediocre game and was disappointed Dos Santos only got got a few mins. I just want to know how good he actually is – he could be the missing piece in attack.

Just relieved now. 3 points and looking forward to the Liverpool match. Time to slap them down again.

    • Yes indeed, to all those that have been slinging the Sh#t about the differrence between Spurs and a triangle [ who's has more points] do you want an upgrade that to a Hexagon?

  6. YES PLEASE – Gio instead of Krancjar for the Liverpool game !

  7. YES PLEASE – Gio instead of Krancjar for the Liverpol game !

    • AGREEE!!! I’m sorry to upset “fans” but Kranjcar sucked today, and has been for a while.. HOW can spurs fans question Rafa, and praise Nico ???? First Nico is NOT a winger, he is way to slow..
The only reason Gio has “flopped” at spurs is because he has NEVER been given a chance. Gio can operate on the right, which means we don’t have to play Bale in a less favored position just because Kranjcar is even less useful on the right than he is on the left… Gio has to be given a chance. 9 out of 10 times he played for Mexico he’s MOTM… He deserves a go. Till Lennons fit…

      ………………..Friedel
      Walker….King…..Daws……Ekotto

      ………..Parker….Modric

      Gio………………………………Bale

      …………..Defoe…Ade

and as soon as Rafa is fit put him in behind Ade instead of Defoe
and if Modric needs a rest. take a chance on Iago Falque…
And we should use this year to scout for a new manager that can take us further..
sorry, Harry, but your time is running out!

  8. Gio for Krancjar??????

Have you all lost your minds??????

He has no interest in being at spurs. The youtube version, you know the one who plays out of his skin in the grenn of mexico will never play like that for spurs. He’s a liability. If iko had one bad game we can forgive him that. The boy decides games, simple as that.

    COYS

    • Gio a liability while Krancjar was the one losing the ball for Wolves to counter attack onto us on numerous occasions. Good one.

He has the occasional long shot goal but offers little else with his lack of pace and strength. Bit like the midfield equivalent of Pav.

    • i know Gio only had a few minutes on the pitch but as he was being subbed on he had a big grin on his face and if you watch what he did for those minutes was run like hell wanting the ball even though he may have stood offside for a bit :/ im probably reading to much into this but who cares, if he gets a run in the team he might like us again :)

  9. players on both sides gave the ball away more often than i can remember in a premiership game. i think it must be something to do with the tempo, atmosphere or pitch, because it was unusual. even adebayor – we are all raving about him, because he showed what we’ve been missing, but his first touch was shocking, or at least clumsy… however, he did seem to get lucky and fumble about, through tackles. but yeah, bale, krancjar and ade really failed to show top quality ball control which is unusual for all 3 of them, and the Wolves midfield didn’t stop giving us the ball back!

so i think it was just a one off, and we shouldn’t be so harsh on krancjar. i feel sometimes that a lot of our fans are really football manager fans. they think the likes of dos santos are brilliant, but as much as i’d also like to see him make it at spurs, there must be a reason that he hasn’t been picked, and that he didn’t set the world alight in the Turkish league or receive rave reviews at Ipswich. these are the same fans who keep having a go at Harry for not playing Krancjar, but then for playing him over dos santos, and then for not playing youngsters…. at the end of the day the manager wants us to win, and are youngsters aren’t that good yet. I do like Kane though, but we’ll see when he’s ready

    • So you mention gio’s loans from the distant past but conveniently ignore his recent spell at santander, you know, the one where he scored 5-6 goals and almost single handedly kept racing from doing the drop. I’m also pretty sure there was some important reason harry kept bale out of the squad until he had to play him.

    • Please remember that there was a time when a certain Gareth Bale hardly got a look in – almost two years – until an injury happened – even then he was put in reluctantly by THE management! Give Gio a chance…

  10. Is it really a coincidence that as soon as we revert to 442 without VdV or Lennon we win with both goals coming from the strikers?

I like Rafa, I just wish we could accommodate him in a formation that doesn’t sacrifice a proper striker. As for the right side, anyone but Lennon please!
