Niko Kranjcar, a player we all love to watch on his day, he is comfortable on the ball, has good vision, can pick out a decent pas, chips in with his share of goals and assists and seems to posses more ability to win us a game than some of our other players but yet is well down the pecking order in the eyes of Harry Redknapp but is it the same for the fans? I think not!

Fair enough when our midfield is fit and we have Bale,Modric,Hudd,Lennon and even Van der Vaart then maybe Niko should be on the bench. For me though when one of these guys is injured he should be the next player called upon, sure he has his quiet games but tell me one player that doesn’t.

Niko scored 7 goals for us last season, I can’t understand when he can be a threat why he hardly gets a game. Pav is starting to get frustrated that he can’t get a look in when the other strikers ain’t scoring goals and he does, it’s not long before Niko says the same and wants out. Niko came on yesterday and won us the game, he done more in his time on the pitch than Pienaar did, so why is Pienaar now ahead of Kranjcar? Pienaar is only ever going to get 2 or 3 goals a season.

Other clubs have picked up on the possibility that Kranjcar would be available, most notably Liverpool and whoever gets him in the summer will grab a real bargain. He scored the winner yesterday with a stunning goal but will probably find himself on the bench next time again because thats the way Harry operates, just ask Pavlyuchenko.

Is Kranjcar being harshly treated? does he deserve more first team action?

  1. If we are getting results (which we are) then he must wait. He has ability to win a game in a heartbeat yes, but a game is 90 mins. This season Niko has been poor with the limited opportunities he has had – until the last few games have showed glimpses. But with effective wingers/attackers/ball players in Lennon, Vdv, Bale, Modric – chances are going to be limited. Alongside that you need a bit of industry, which is where Wilson/Jenas come in or Hudd – who offers a different but effective role in the team. Niko does not offer anything more than the above – apart from a bit of a shot – but his lack of pace stops him being a great forward player. Don’t get me wrong, i like him a lot (looks great on ball, skills, shot, dances around the pitch) – but you cannot argue with the great run of results we are getting. We have now overtaken last season’s points total at 25 games played!

    • Not every person is going to have pace! I’m sorry i don’t understand why Pav and Niko don’t play! I personally don’t even know why we brought Piennar- hes a shitter version of our pretty boy! Kranjcar is just better- he shouldn’t leave- nor should Pav! They are fans favorites and need to stay at spurs- they both remind me why i support spurs- can do absolutely nothing the whole game then come up with something magical–HARRY PLAY PAV AND NIKO- AND PIENNAR NEEDS TO WAIT HIS TURN! Apart from that- good win and because the scum think they are going to win the Carling Cup our game with them has been moved which means apart from next week at Sunderland- they have given us a run which means everyone else we play is 15th place or lower in the league! 4th here we come!COYS

    • im not suprised pav wants to leave, Kranjcar will be next. Its because Harry has favourites, Defoe, nowhere near match fit, and hes on the field weekin, week out. Pav has been excellent for spurs, but he rarely gets a start, and Kranjcar, what has this guy done wrong?. What about Corlucka, 10 times better then Alan Mutton, who did a double piroet against Utd, if it didnt hurt, id be laughing, absolut muppet. Harry, at Spurs Lev has backed you all the way, if you dont like the club, then move on, it looks to me your trying to cause a kave in. Tottenham have the best squad in the league, stop playing the dros,, IE Janes (rymes with Anus) get rid. Hutton, (waiste of money Mr Camollie) these two will are not good enough, Pav and Crouch, up front, and play Krancjar wherever he wants, and chorlucka is the best right back at the club,.

    • Kranjcar is top end, one of the best players at the club, have any of you been to watch spurs?im not suprised pav wants to leave, Kranjcar will be next. • I can’t actually remember Redknapp saying anywhere that he didn’t like the club, maybe you can point us in the direction of the quote? I don’t get it… best results for 20-odd years and first CL football for 50 years and he constantly gets accused of trying to ruin the club. Makes you wonder what he’ll be accused of if he wins something this year – I think the Met might have some unsolved murders you can chuck in.

If you hadn’t noticed while you were watching Corluka is actually playing and as for Jimmy Krankie, love him but ‘One of the best players at the club?’ Hmmm. Maybe getting a bit carried away there.

  2. I don’t love watching Kranks…when he plays on the right.

Pienaar is certainly not as technically gifted than Krankjar, but he does move the ball faster, which, I believe is something ‘Arry (rightly) wants more off in the team, and he is also far more versatile than Kranks.

  3. Kranjcar scored a wonderful goal yesterday and won us the game. However, for the remainder of his brief appearance, he was completely off the pace. This is understandable as he has hardly had any first team game time this season, but nevertheless, prior to his great goal, his appearances in the first team have been distinctly underwhelming. Yesterday he looked as if he had run his socks off for 118 minutes of an extra time game instead of having been on the pitch for a few minutes. Apart from his goal, which admiitedly changed everything, to compare his performance favourably to that of Pienaar is an insult to Pienaar, who was continually involved and probed intelligently.
You may have noted that Harry Redknapp wsa very complimentary about Kranjcar’s attitude in training, even when he is not playing for the first team. I detected a not too veiled criticism of Pavlyuchenko who when he is not playing tells the world that Redknapp “jeers” him, and that he wants to leave, and yet when he does play very rarely puts himself out for the team’s benefit, though he has the ability to score on occasion. He is just not good enough at scoring to hide his overall deficiencies in team play. Crouch, and currently Defoe, cleraly don’t score enough, but add far more to the team’s overall performance than Pavlyuchenko can generally bother himself to do. This is especailly true of Crouch, and he gets precious little appreciation for it.

    • completely agree with everything that you have said. Refreshing to read the insight of an intelligent and pragmatic spurs fan, as opposed to some of the other moronic comments on this blog

  4. Krancjar is well worth his place in the team

  5. Krancjar, Pav…..Harry just doesn’t like them, preferring his old Portsmouth lags. Tell me a great signing that Harry has made since his time at Spurs. VDV was Levy’s. The team that got 4th last year was inherited, and we haven’t strengthened noticeably since then. Harry might be wily, but can’t see he is so brilliant in the transfer market. And look at Portsmouth now…….’nuff said

    • What is with you Harry haters? Harry signed Krancjar who was an awesome signing. As was Gallas. As was VDV (oh wait, you say he was Levy’s signing… cause Levy highlighted him as a talent using his years of football experience and expert scouting knowledge) Wipe the shit away from your mouth. We’re level with 4th and playing R16 Champions League football.

Take a look at that and then tell us what a crap job HR is doing. In terms of percentages, he is the third most successful manager in our history, and you have to go back to the 19th century to find better.

Last week some idiot claimed that it was the players and not HR who had turned the club around. These were the same players who got us off to the worst start in our history, and once HR joined got us to 12th spot by Xmas, but what do I know. Incidentally, had we drawn at Craven Cottage that year, instead of losing 1-0, we would have qualified for the EL. If Harry is a crap manager, I just wish he had been crap for us for the last twenty years, because with the exception of MJ, you have to go back to Terry Venables before we had a team that was anywhere near as good as the current squad.

No. I don’t think HR walks on water, but I personally am glad that for the last two years, we haven’t had to wait until April to know that we are safe from relegation. In spite of all the doom and gloom, and those people who are already blaming HR for our failure to qualify for next year’s CL, it’s far from over yet.

Of course, we all know that when we get into next years CL, the credit belongs to ABH – Anyone But Harry.

    • Kranjcar used to be one of Harry’s ‘old Portsmouth lags’ too….

    • Errr, Krancjar played at Portsmouth with Redknapp… So are you saying that he plays all his old Pompey lags apart from Niko and you want him to play… Or that you don’t want him to play ANY of his old Pompey lags including Niko?

      I’m confused.

The team that got 4th last year was bottom of the league. As you say, without many major changes (Apart from the astute buying of Palacios), they then qualified for the CL. They either did it ‘All by themselves’ as I believe you or somebody asserted yesterday, or the coaching staff assembled by Harry had something to do with it.

  6. Kranks is a good player in a squad of very good players and an odd great player .He will always struggle to oust these players and will have to wait for his chances. Also Harry seems to be looking to sign players who are multi role players, almost good all rounders like Pienaar.I would be sorry to see Kranks go and i am hoping that if Spurs get a run of success this season and next that Harry will use more squad rotation and that will give Kranks more playing time. This may go some way to keeping the fringe players happy. As for Pav i think he needs more playing time but the team is winning at the moment and it would be hard to change a winning team .Pav needs playing time to build confidence but it would be risky at this time and his attitude although understandable is not endearing him to Harry .Finally i see we have not heard from Mr West Han United or Mighty Hammer may have something to do with losing to BCFC today …good one step closer to the trapdoor and championship football next season.

  7. When Pienaar will score an important goal you would be writing the same kind of article for him. Pienaar is more fast and inventive and more adaptable on different places on the pitch. Niko wants to play on the left and that’s the main problem for him not getting more chances to play.

  8. nikitak13, kranjcar is one of harry’s portsmouth boys!

  9. Harry doesn’t like Kranjcar, he prefers his old Pompey lags?????? He signed Kranjcar for Pompey in 2006. And please do not tell me that Levy did not ask Harry if he wanted VDV. Harry even stated he called him, and asked if he wanted him, to which he said an obvious yes. Nikitak, you are an idiot.

    • HR signed Kranks from Pompey !!! Leave HR alone – who do you want instead Avram ??!!!

      • What an idiot. If you think I am having a go at Harry, you really are retarded. Look up Niko’s signing history. What do you find. Wonder who signed him for Pompey in 2006, eh. Give you a clue, his initials are HR. Prick.

      • Leave Avram where he is he,s doing exactly what we want for the spammers and the championship looms closer and closer for the east end muppets tick tock tick tock.Oh cant wait to see the dildo duo and the old bow wow Brady hauling her sorry arse up to the northern shit pits that they will be visiting next season hahahaha.

        • Chill cocohughes – that was directed at others not you – pressed the wrong button!!! I save the name calling to non spurs – give it a try?

          • Fair play, but it was posted after my comment, so it looks like you were having a personal pop at me.

  10. You can’t play Bale, Modric and VdeV every game. Its like as if Harry doesn’t trust Nicko, Corluka, Bassong, Pav and Sandro. We need to keep the whole squad involved, you dont have to change 5 to 6 players every game, just 2 or 3 and keep everybody match fit. We should be able to make chages and rotate and not just when players get injured. Is Bale really injured or is he burnt out? Nicko is obvious replacement when Mod is out?

    • that’s the most sensible comment i’ve read all day

    • I agree. If you make too many changes the team will lose making the players feel worse and reduce Harry’s trust in them further eg carling cup game with Arsenal. If you bring in for example Charlie for Hutton and pav for crouch it doesnt weaken us and they feel more involved in the 1st team. It also shows the team that no one is a guaranteed pick and offers more competition. There will of course always be games where your best 11 should be picked eg Milan or top four games.

      • What, like Charlie for Hutton as he has done in the last couple of games? Or Pienaar for VDV like he did at half time? Sandro will take time – He looks a great player but he is gradually finding his feet and 20-30 mins here and there will help his confidence. He got 90 mins against Charlton and grew in that game, but I still wouldn’t want him being our main defensive cover against the physicality of someone like Bolton.

Bassong is also learning from Gallas slowly but made 2 nearly fatal errors against Blackburn. I think we all know that Daws aberration against Fulham was a one-off and that generally he is one of our most dependable players. Given that they were facing our ‘nemesis’ in Davies, HR rightly plumped for our ‘Captain’ along with Gallas – A CB with proven experience, who has been fantastic this season.

If he had rotated the squad and lost, this page would be full of people saying ‘You have to play your best 11 players’. They are paid a fortune and supposed to be fit! It’s called not being able to please all of the people all of the time.
