The chances are that Luka Modric will be off to Real Madrid this summer, we will need a playmaker replacement but will Daniel Levy and his new manager be able to deliver a quality player to fill his boots?
I have my reservations as I suspect he is hoping to fund the new stadium with any spare funds we get and may look for a cheap options. We never really replaced Berbatov after selling him to United for over £30m.
Nuri Sahin is one of the Madrid players touted as a possible inclusion in the deal and it looks like we may be about to land Gylfi Sigurdsson. Madrid signed Turkish Sahin but he has never really been favoured by Mourinho and maybe has not been able to show his full potential and Sigurdsson had a very impressive season at Swansea last season.
There will be other possibilities but whatever happens will Levy recognize the importance of having that playmaker who can keep the ball in midfield and do something about it when the moment comes for Modric to depart? Levy is a very clever business man but his expertise are there, he is not born and bread in spotting football talent so will need massive advice from his staff or to seek the advice of his pending new manager.
Faith…. is it there?
