Last week Spurs confirmed the signing of Croatian Stipe Pletikosa on a season long loan. Having not had much time to research this guy as he seemed to be the forgotten man in the Van der Vaart saga I finally got around to it today.
I found this video on and I like the look of him, he is very brave and athletic. He has won 80 caps for Croatia which is impressive and you could argue that at the age of 31 he should be in his prime as a goalkeeper. Many believed that Pletikosa deserved to win the best keeper at Euro 2008 but unfortunately the luck never fell his way.
My only criticism I any are that it looks as though he might be a bit over theatrical in some of the saves he makes but we will have to wait and see. He was once regarded as the best keeper in the Russian league. You lot are the judges, opinions below chaps.

A New Signing Already?
Klinsmann Emerges As Contender To The Throne
I feel a bromance coming on!!
No.1 Gomes, No.2 Pletikosa, No.3 Cudicini …. problem solved
Doesn’t look like he hold enough for me, based only on that video mind you, still alot of those shots we palmed back into the danger area. Don’t think premier league strikers will be so forgiving.
i believe as highlighted his shot stopping is exceptional the question mark is over his cross taking and command of his area
ur definately right about him being theatrical judging on this video anyway. A lot of saves for the camera. I don’t understand why we need 3 established keepers. Most clubs just have 2 then the 3rd would just be someone young from the youth team or something. Better safe than sorry i guess
Dont understand why goal keepers insist on parrying shots rather than trying to hold onto the ball.
When was it agreed that tapping back into penalty areas or out for corners were the best form of defence?
I just hope Tony Parks puts him right on that the English Premiership is no place to take that sort of chance as Gomes learnt 2 seasons ago and need reminding of again.
to me he look a great keeper he can save the ball long range and close range mabe just practice catching the ball then he will be pushing gomez for the first team spot good signing
I agree with Sam. I had not read Sam’s comments until after I saw the video but there were at least 3 shots he should have held rather than pushed away. One he palmed down in to the middle of the box and others were still in play – admittedly clear by a defender but …..
As you say though, athletic and brave and appears to have quick reflexes, is also fast off his line!
the football isn’t designed for the goalkeepers, it is designed to go in the net!! most keepers parry these days cause there isn’t much choice as catching the ball isn’t an option due to it being lighter, faster and always on the swerve, i think it is a fantastic signing and also he has been training at spurs most of the summer which means HR and Parks have had a real good look at him and felt he was worth it, we will soon see as if he is made number 2 then that is a compliment in itself as cudicini is also a good keeper himself, why do we need 3 class keepers? i like to think it’s cause the goons don’t have one lol.
