Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has revealed how unhappy he is with Mario Balotelli’s alleged stamp on Scott Parker in Sunday’s 3-2 defeat to Manchester City.
Shortly after coming on as a substitute, those who bet in play note Balotelli’s foot landed on Parker, with many suggesting that it was an intentional stamp from the Italian. Shortly afterwards, he won and converted a penalty to win City the game of course.
This left Spurs devastated after playing so well to get themselves back into the game and Redknapp was clear about his thoughts on the Balotelli incident.
Speaking after the game, he said: “Having looked at it, I do think he should have been sent off. The first one could have been an accident, but on the second one he’s backheeled him straight in the head.”
“It is not the first time he has done that and I am sure it won’t be the last. I am the last person to talk about getting people sent off and what they sThould and shouldn’t do.”
“But it is blatant. He reacts to challenges like that at times. Scott has got a cut on his head.”
“I have got my own opinions but I don’t like people kicking other people in the head on football pitches. I don’t think it’s wrong to say that.”
“Why you should backheel someone in the head when they are lying on the floor is beyond me. It’s not a nice thing to do.”
It is of course an issue that has got people talking and from Manchester City, the man to come out and speak after the game was assistant manager David Platt who said he needs to see the incident again before giving his views.
The former England midfielder said: “I never saw anything live and there was nothing from the players live either. Until we have seen it we cannot really comment.”
“What we are aware of from the last month is that different TV angles can show different things.”
The BBC Football pundits have been having their say too with Lee Dixon and Alan Hansen offering differing views on the incident.
Dixon doesn’t think anyone can say for certain it was deliberate. He said: “I think you’ve got to give him the benefit of the doubt. He’s not looking at Parker. Looking at his left leg, it’s actually off the ground. I know it looks bad but no-one can possibly tell.”
Hansen is convinced that Balotelli showed some intent though, saying: “I think he stamps on him. When you hit the ground you don’t stamp and there’s a definite stamp there. The referee is five yards away. I think he should have given him a red card.”
In the end though, it matters for little as the game has gone. Balotelli will more than likely face further action from the FA, while Spurs have to move on.

Klinsmann Emerges As Contender To The Throne
As a City fan I’m sad to say that it looked deliberate to me. While Harry is some way wide of the mark saying “It is not the first time he has done that and I am sure it won’t be the last”, Super Mario certainly does have a penchant for lashing out and general petulance.
Was it a sending off? Yes. Was Lescott’s? I honestly don’t think so, although he could easily have gone courtesy of some referees. But then I remember defeat at Sunderland thanks to a blatantly offside injury time goal, and of course having our captain sent off and subsequently banned for 4 games when he hadn’t even committed a foul. It all comes out in the wash over the course of a season.
Whatever, Mr Redknapp will be able to console himself with the fact that Balotelli will be on an entirely deserved charge from the FA before the week is out.
Best of luck against United anyway
Ballotelli always takes exception to any contact while he has the ball, and often lashes out after completely fair tackles on him, that’s what Harry was talking about
City Fan
Without doubt Ballotelli should answer any charges against him, and if guilty should take the punishment on the chin, however, can anyone tell me what the difference is between Mancini waving a red card, and Harry Rednapp saying in the press that Ballotelli should be banned.
Yesterday was a brilliant game, with Spurs being the best side to come to our all season, however should we retrospectively be lloking at what happened in a match and doling out punishments. If so then yes we need to look at whatever Lescott did, but we also need to look at Scott Parker 2 footed lunge at Micah Richards. When do you draw the line and let the ref run the game, or should we just let the media, and the furoroe created by poor pundits manage football for us. (sorry for they typo’s find it fifficult to edit this post before submitting it)

By “2 footed lunge at Micah Richards” by Scott Parker, are you referring to the strong, yet ball winning 1 footed tackle by Parker to win the ball and put it out to play?
Anyway, the way Micah took it and then shook hands with Parker, both then getting on with it is how it should be done.
OK, your view of it was one thing mine was a different one, so the question is, do we retrospectively look at the challenge to prove it one way or another, which I think is a fair point.
SP and MR did shake hands and get on with it, and that is great and how it should be, however it is irrelevant in this context. I still make the point that should we allow pundits and trial by television in all elements of the game, or should we let the ref deal with it.
Finally would be interested in an opinion from a Spurs fan, as to ewhat is the difference between Mancini’s red card waving antics, and Mr Redknapps call in the National Media for Balotelli to be banned
One is a class act the other is a bent barra boy…
Who has a brown bag bank a/c in the name of his dog!
Hope the FA can KICK HIM OUT OF FOOTBALL IF FOUND GUILTY!
It’s been quite sickening the amount of Spuds fans (and their media friends) have been whining today, get over it.
They were not the best team to come to our place by a long shot, they came for a draw and nearly got one, their biggest problem is they and their ever so slightly bent manager got beaten by their own mind games, they believed the hype, it was Harry’s last throw of the dice, because who knows he may be looking at time for robbing the British taxpayer (and they includes Spuds fans as well)
They are never going to win the league, they may even finish out of the top 4, they had an easy run and now it’s back to reality, hope they enjoyed it, the annual Spuds slide down will be a joy to behold, your behaviour after the Wolves game and this has confirmed that Spuds really are a loathsome club with loathsome fans, just take a look at their forums for proof
bluemoon, don’t be a mug all your life! Let’s look at your mob then- one great strike from Nasri, a goal rolled over the line by Lescott and the third a penalty! You were dead lucky, but with Balotelli about to get his comeuppance, your luck’s about to run out.
Watch you lot bottle the league! It’ll be talked about for decades!!!
Cocksucker, you seem like a scared little boy when you comment on the Harry Hotspur, site, why?
