Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is ready to report Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City to the FA for trying to unsettle midfielder Luka Modric.

The Daily Mirror reports that Levy has told that any club who try to unsettle his star player will be reported for breaking the rules. Manchester United had been chasing Modric as a replacement for Paul Scholes but interest may have taken a back seat while they attempt to land Samir Nasri, this has opened the door for Chelsea and Manchester City to try to prize Modric away from White Hart Lane.

Manager Harry Redknapp is said to be furious and has no plans to sell Modric but is growing concerned by some of Modric’s recent statments where he refuses to rule out a move away from Spurs this summer.

Modric said: “I’m a Tottenham player and will be back on July 7 to begin preparing for the season, but I want to say that transfers could occur later.”

Redknapp said: “If clubs the size of Manchester United and Chelsea are prepared to offer him Champions League football and massive wages, you would have to be very naive to think it wouldn’t turn Luka’s head.

“But I have been assured by the chairman that he is not prepared to sell him under any circumstances.

“And it’s fair to say he’s not happy about the unwanted attention and continuing speculation surrounding Luka.

“I have said on many occasions he is irreplaceable and it would be a massive disaster for the club if he was allowed to leave.

“We need to be strengthening the squad not depleting it. In an ideal world I would hope to bring in at least three more players to give us a realistic chance of competing for a top four place in the Premier League next season.

“United, Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea, who all finished above us, are going to strengthen their squads so we have to be realistic.

“If we want to compete with them we have to be active in the transfer market,

but I’m not suggesting it’s going to be easy. Quality players at the right price are not easy to acquire.

“We also need to trim the squad and sell a few players.”

Spurs knew they would be under pressure from clubs trying to sign some of their star players following failure to secure another top 4 finish but hope to hold on to their best players in order to break back into the Champions League once again.

Tottenham reported Manchester United to the Premier League in 2008 over the tapping up of Dimitar Berbatov and now Spurs are looking for evidence from any club who may have illegally approached Modric, if Spurs find what they are looking for they will hand it over to the Premier League.

  1. Frank – if you’re a chelsea fan then perhaps you should refer to how your club managed to hold onto Terry when he wanted to go to city. If utd, then Cristano Ronaldo or if a city fan, why not look at Tevez. Or just f-off.

  2. what a fucking pity…triffic arry gets a bit of his own.. first modric then bale… come on city give the yids a bit of arab gold and let them play catch up….

  3. @Yid4life your having a laugh. @indyfan your having a bigger one !Spuds have done it for years. When your in a perceived position of power you exercise it.
Lets have a world where the player gets to the end of the contact and the nicely negotiates another !
Funnily enough isn’t it the same in a way for Spuds to moan about a player being induced to break their contract whilst at the same time admitting they have to “trim the squad…” These are players who they have entered into a contract with and are now wanting to break their contracts….
It’s gone on for years long before Man City people were doing this. United have done it and Spuds and many others.
It’s only offensive when it happens to a player from our team !

Funnily enough it might improve with the limitation on squad numbers for the over 21′s. City had players on the payroll who were playing at all. Most players do actually want to play and so cannot all congregate at a few clubs.

Something does have to be done – but moaning about this wont be the answer.

  4. is your car in need of a refill?, oh good! more money 4 city!

    • Lol! Even on day’s like today when i’ve got nothing on I race my Aston Martin round Manc just so I can fill her up again & help fund another transfer onslaught. Get those cars filled up boys – Modric’s or Sanchez’s wages don’t come cheap!

  5. Calm down you silly cockney pillocks. Have Cooke and Marwood actually put in a request to speak to the player? No! You’re reading the red tops, it’s all bullsh1t! City go about their business in a professional manner, unlike old twitcher.

  6. Harry complaining about tapping up? That’s a bit rich.

Its not as if Mancini has said in the press “Luca’s a ‘triffic player, just ‘triffic”.

Market forces. Spurs had better raise Modric’s and Bale’s wages.

  7. Carry on getting excited boys!
This man will not be leaving this season!
    Go cream Your pants elsewhere!

  8. Some people are not money motivated!

  9. Thanks for this. Where did you get those Harry Redknapp quotes from?

  10. Talk about 2 faced especially if it’s true. He trying to unsettle rio ferdinand so papers are saying..
