There’s no question about it, many eyebrows were raided when Harry Redknapp was appointed Tottenham manager but nobody can deny what an outstanding job the guy has done in completely turning our football club around.
Redknapp has an ongoing court case accused of tax evasion and a guilty verdict depending on his punishment could spell the end for him at Tottenham and if he gets away with it there is every chance he will move on in the summer to take his dream job of managing England. Nobody could blame Harry for taking the England job in the summer if it means so much to him but who could possibly come in and fill his boots now Spurs are firmly back on the map?
Jose Mourinho! The Real Madrid manager has stated he would love a return back to the Premiership and is likely to leave Madrid in the summer. Spurs would be the ideal job for Jose as we need a manager who can attract big players and keep us up the top. Jose would probably see Spurs as the ideal challenge, I don’t know if he could go anywhere else as he would probably clash with the Man Utd and Arsenal board and unless Abramovic wants him back at Chelsea then to me it’s written in the stars for Mourinho to take over after Harry.
Mourinho has made no secret of the fact that he wishes to return to England, the Premier League is Mourinho’s home and he has only had good things to say about Spurs of late, maybe he has a little soft spot for us. If Harry does move on in the summer then it will be a massive decision on who to appoint, a wrong call by Levy could see us once again become a mid-table club. The Spurs job used to be cursed but Harry was finally the man to pub us back at the top and to carry on our recent trend will be a hard task in chosing the next manager as there is no doubt Harry has raised the bar at Spurs and made managing the club harder than ever now expectations are high. Could Jose be that man, does he have the credentials to become the next Spurs manager.

A New Signing Already?
Klinsmann Emerges As Contender To The Throne
Couldnt agree more. He’s been there and done it everywhere. He could attract top names, keep our best players at the club due to his profile and would have the tactical know-how in breaking teams down when they park the team bus in front of goal! His character would also be great to have at the Lane. Seems like it would good timing for both parties!
Dang I feel bad for those eyebrows.
I know…. Raided mercilessly… :0(
Would the players adapt well from a manager who doesn’t do tactics to one who does tactics to death? Would we be happy with a manger who’d have us park the bus to nick a 1-0 rather than go with the THFC ethos of attacking football…regardless of the possible outcome?
Mourinho is a ‘big name’ but does he think he’d be bigger than Spurs?
my eyebrows were raided once, but they didn’t find anything.
couldn’t disagree more. what has worked so well under Harry is playing attacking football, allowing players the freedom to do what they do best. Mourinho plays negative football and always ends up alienating the players and the fans.He pretty much got booed off the pitch by the Madrid fans last week for persistently going against their tradition of flair football. Harry may not be a tactical manager but look how much happier and more successful the players are compared to the Ramos regime. The game isn’t as complicate as Jose and AVB make it out to be. Ferguson isn’t much into tactics either and look at the success he’s had just by being a ruthless man-manager. Personally, i’d take Brendon Rogers at a fraction of the price and continue our own legacy of exciting football. Or, if you want a big name, get Hiddink.
Spot on. I think Mourinho has too much of an ego, and he has the tendency to play negative football, which is so against the Spur’s ethos. Brendan Rogers is a good call, and I’ve also been thinking that Paul Lambert maybe just the guy for us. Both these managers encourage flowing, attacking football, and would fit like a glove with our club! Let’s see what happens!
Excellent comment . And BDSpur has a good point too about Lambert. Either Rogers or Lambert would be good. Going off the idea of defensive coaches like Mourinho and Moyes.
Maybe in about three of years time Guardiola will want to fulfill his ambition to manage in the Prem. By then we should have new WHL and an extra £50m turnover a year. And if we can get into the CL on a regular basis that could move our turnover from about £120m to £200-220m. Now that would give Guardiola something to play with.
Spider,
Couldn’t agree more with you. Mourinho is the antithesis of Spurs’ style of football. Chelsea were dull, Inter were dull(ish) and it’s only with the best squad in the world that he has pretty much inherited for the most part, does he feel able to put out an attacking brand of football. And that’s in quite possibly the most predictable league in the world outside Scotland! And how has he fared against Barca? 9 losses, three draws and one win – in extra time. Hardly inspiring. Jose for Spurs? Not in footballing terms certainly, but I would agree that his persona would indeed be likely to attract some of the very top players that we always seem to flirt with, but never actually confirm in writing! So that might just counteract my objections above, but whether Levy and the board would support and sanction the sorts of fees that would invariably be involved in such transfers, I don’t know. It could be a 2 years and out for Jose at the Lane, and we’d probably be bankrupt!
Savage.
Wouldn’t want him. He’s a horrible horrible man. And uses every disgusting trick possible. His bile even caused a referee to retire from the game following death threats. Luckily he will never come to Tottenham. He only goes to the club that has the biggest budget in a country. He’s not interested in a challenge. Just wants to say look at me I’m the greatest. No not for me. I want someone with decency and a bit of humility, like Harry or Martin Jol. Would rather that than stacks of trophies we might get with someone like Mourinho.
A Twat plain and simple is what you sound like….rather not win trophies….do me a fucking favour and start supporting Arsenal coz coz they play pretty football and win fuck all.
You have to be balanced in this, we all want to win trophies, however I would like to do it with our heads held high, the right way, You win no plaudits playing negative football sucking the life out of the game. nor by throwing billions to buy success. I love my team because we do it right, we operate at a profit, we play beautiful football, and we have become everyones guilty pleasure for our style and swagger. I would like to think we can keep the soul we have beyond harry, and on past record Jose would not offer us this. he would offer us stability, and a winning method, but he processes wins, he cares not for the style and rhythm that makes a game great to watch. Brendan Rogers would fit the bill nicely
I completely agree, no to mourinho, he does not play football the spurs way and those calling for success at the cost of our soul should support Chelsea or city. We are better than that, we have our history and passion to protect.
I do however feel we need a reasonably experienced manager if we are to replace Harry for whatever reason. Hiddink is a good shout, Klinsman also.
COYS
It’s all about the quality of the soul.
I also agree and for the same reasons plius the fact that he never hangs around clubs for too long anyway. DO NOT WANT HIM .Personally I don’t care about internationlal football and want to see Harry stay as long as he wants to.He has lots of work still to be done.
No way Jose, he does think he’s bigger than the club, most comments up there are probably right, crap football etc, I’d much rather see Klinsman, look what he did with a very below par German side
What an insult to the legacy of Bill Nicholson, Danny Blanchflower and all those that earned the club it’s reputation for attactive, fowing football. Throw in the underhand and unspporting behaviour of Mourinho and how mucher lower do you advocate we sink. No sense of Spurs ethos.
I certainly hope no one’s eyebrows were hurt during these “raids.” Seriously speaking though, maybe a season or two ago I would have welcomed the idea but I don’t think he’s right for our club to be honest.
